Why the name “Jazzed By Jesus”?
In the early days of the World Wide Web as a commercially viable entity, I was responsible for finding a vendor that could help our company with our web presence. One of the candidates was a small shop run by a pleasantly geeky young man who remarked, “I am so jazzed by this technology.” I think it was the first time I had heard the word “jazz” used as a verb, and I liked it immediately. When I later entertained thoughts of writing a book about my love of Christian scripture, particularly as preached by followers of Ignatius Loyola (as a result of spending several weekends at a Jesuit retreat house), the energetic and alliterative qualities of putting “jazz” with “Jesus” appealed to me.
